We got tired of replacing things that shouldn’t need replacing.

Siloxa started in our own home — not in a boardroom.

You’ve heard “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” your whole life. But somewhere along the way, the first two got lost. Recycling became the destination — the guilt-free endpoint that let us keep consuming without really changing anything. Toss it in the blue bin and move on.

We weren’t interested in that. My husband Ernie and I made a quiet decision a few years ago: actually reduce what comes into our home, and actually reuse what stays. Not as a statement. Just as a better way to live.

We swapped Tupperware for glass. Paper napkins for cloth. Plastic wrap for reusable covers. And the sponges — the gross, mildew-gray ones in the sink and shower — for silicone. One by one, the disposables left our house. And the replacements were just… better. Cleaner. Simpler. More honest.

Why the forgotten two matter

Why silicone?

Silicone was the obvious choice once we started looking. It’s non-porous, so bacteria have nowhere to hide. It doesn’t absorb odors or stain. It survives the dishwasher, the freezer, and the microwave without complaint. And it lasts — not months, but years. When a single product replaces dozens of disposables, that’s not a marginal improvement. That’s a real reduction in what ends up in a landfill.

It’s also just satisfying to use. Good tools feel good. We noticed that immediately, and it’s something customers tell us regularly.

What Siloxa is

Siloxa is a curated collection of silicone home, bath, beauty, and pet products — every one of them something we’d actually buy for our own house. No filler, no clutter. Products that earn their shelf space by being genuinely better than what they replace.

The name comes from a combination of “silicone” and “alexa” — a nod to a smart home built around smart choices. Small decisions, made consistently, add up to something meaningful.
